Project update: CfD win for Vanguard West & East
14 January 2026
We’re delighted to share some good news about the Vanguard West and East Offshore Wind Farms.
Both projects have been awarded Contracts for Difference (CfDs) in the Government’s latest renewable energy auction, known as Allocation Round 7. This marks an important next step towards delivering offshore wind power in the UK and reflects the strong progress already made on the projects.
The Contracts for Difference provide long-term support for the electricity the wind farms will generate, helping to underpin continued investment and delivery of Vanguard West and East.
Our Project Director, Adam Ezzamel, said: “We are delighted with the results of the auction, which confirm long-term support for the Vanguard West and East Offshore Wind Farms. Onshore construction works are already underway and progressing well, and this outcome represents an important milestone in the delivery of the projects.”
Importantly for local communities, this announcement does not change any of the plans we have already shared about onshore construction. Work onshore is already well underway and will continue as planned, with day-to-day activity on the ground remaining the same.
It has also been announced that RWE has agreed a long-term partnership with global investment firm KKR to jointly deliver the Vanguard West and East projects. Subject to the usual approvals, both organisations will work together to develop, construct and operate the wind farms.
We’re looking forward to continuing to deliver these important projects and building on the progress already being made. As always, we’ll keep local communities informed as work continues and will be in touch soon with our next project update.
