On December 21st 2023, RWE announced it had acquired a cluster of 3 consented projects from Vattenfall. The purchase of Vanguard West, East & Boreas was completed on March 27th 2024. For further details, please refer to the press release here.

Each project is designed to have a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts (GW) and will be  situated 47 to 80km off Norfolk's coast in East Anglia, a region recognised as one of the world’s largest and most promising areas for offshore wind development. These projects have already secured seabed rights, grid connections, Development Consent Orders and all other essential permits. Construction of the shared onshore cable route for all 3 projects is underway and offshore construction is expected to begin early in 2027.

These three projects will play a pivotal role in establishing and preserving East Anglia's status as a leader in the UK's renewable energy sector, placing the region at the forefront of our country's shift towards a more sustainable, low-carbon economy. They have the potential to create many new, long term operational jobs locally as well as supporting thousands more during construction. In addition the projects will continue to support local and regional skills development programmes.

As construction of these projects progresses, this website will serve as the go-to place for updates and detailed information about the construction process. We encourage you to add this website to your favourites and subscribe to our email newsletters for regular updates.
