About
Vanguard West, East & Boreas

A map of the UK highlighting the Norfolk Vanguard West, Norfolk Boreas, and Norfolk Vanguard East projects, each 1.4 GW.

Vanguard West, East and Boreas are a cluster of three consented wind farms which will be built off the coast of Norfolk in East Anglia, with the nearest turbine located around 47km from shore.

With a combined total of 276 wind turbines across Vanguard West, East & Boreas, these projects will deliver electricity via cables which come ashore at Happisburgh and connect to the National Grid at Necton. Onshore construction of the underground cable route began in 2023 and is well underway. You can find out more about construction activity in the Information Packs located in the Resources section.

Once operational, these projects are expected to produce enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 4 million UK households.
