About
the Norfolk Zone
Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone is a cluster of three projects: Vanguard West, Vanguard East and Boreas which will be built off the coast of Norfolk in East Anglia, with the nearest turbine located around 47km from shore.
The Norfolk Zone’s 276 wind turbines will deliver electricity via cables which come ashore at Happisburgh and connect to the National Grid at Necton. Onshore construction of the underground cable route began in 2023 and is well underway. You can find out more about construction activity in the Information Packs located in the Resources section.
Once operational, the Norfolk Zone will be one of the biggest wind clusters in the world, and it will produce enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 4 million UK households.
